From Atlanta: Follow I-20 West towards Birmingham. Take Exit #5 for GA Hwy 100 to Tallapoosa and
Bowden. At the bottom of the ramp go right towards Tallapoosa. It is approx 5 miles to Tallapoosa. As you enter
Tallapoosa, follow signs for GA Hwy 100 truck route. This will take you left just before crossing the railroad track,
then immediately right at the yield sign crossing the RR track at the light, then immediately left to merge and stay
on Hwy 78 West. Continue on Hwy 78 West into Alabama & thru the town of Fruithurst, approx 8 miles from
Tallapoosa. Take notice of the mile markers on the left side of the highway. The turn to camp is approx 3.9 miles
from Fruithurst. You will see mile marker 184 at a small bridge. At the top of this hill on the right is a sign for
Coleman Lake and Game Warden Station; on the left is a blue metal building which is the Cane Creek Fire Station.
At the blue Cane Creek Fire Station building, turn right on the road to the camp site. There will be a road marker
just after your turn that indicates the road is Cleburne County Rd 61. Follow Cleburne County Rd 61 for approx
7.5 miles. Cleburne County Rd becomes National Forest Rd #553 at approximately 2.5 miles. Cross Shoal Creek
at 5.5 miles & at 7.5 miles turn right onto National Forest Rd #500 to Coleman Lake, Warden Station & Pine Glen.
The next right turn is the turn into camp
Note: The exit at I-20 is your last good opportunity for fuel & ice with pull-offs for trailer rigs. This is a 50 mile
round trip to camp & back. There are several food stops here (Waffle House, Taco Bell/KFC, Dairy Queen,
Waffle King , & Blimpie). The closest ice stop from camp is in Fruithurst, 8.5 miles from camp.
From Birmingham: Follow I-20 East towards Atlanta. Take exit #199 for Alabama Highway 9 to Heflin &
Hollis. At the top of the ramp, turn left back across the interstate. Stay on AL Hwy 9 for 1.5 miles to intersect
with Hwy 78 East at a stop sign. Go right on Hwy 78 east. This will take you thru the town of Heflin. In 3.2 miles
Hwy 78 East will turn left at the merge with AL Hwy 46. There will be a Texaco station on the right at the turn.
Stay on Hwy 78 East for approx 4.3 miles thru the town of Edwardsville. When you pass the Edwardsville
Shoppette on the left you are less than 1 mile from the turn to camp. Notice the mile markers on the right side of
the road. At mile marker 183, look for a yellow caution sign for the fire station. Just beyond the fire station caution
sign will be a left turn. On the right at the turn is a blue metal building which is the Cane Creek Fire Station
building. You are 10 miles from the exit at I-20. There will be a road marker just after your turn that indicates the
road is Cleburne County Rd 61. Follow Cleburne County Rd 61 for approx 7.5 miles. Cleburne County Rd
becomes National Forest Rd #553 at approximately 2.5 miles. Cross Shoal Creek at 5.5 miles & at 7.5 miles turn
right on NF Rd #500 to Coleman Lake, Warden Station and Pine Glen. The next right turn is into camp.

several food stops there (Taco Bell, Subway, Hardees, & Pops Charburgers). It is a 35 mile round trip to camp &
back. The closest ice stop from camp is in Fruithurst, 8.5 miles from camp. |
